Bomb attack in Uganda

A woman was killed and three others were injured in a lethal bomb attack in Uganda's capital, Kampala, on Sunday, 24 October.

Local police assess that this was a local terror attack, most likely linked to an Islamic terror group.

This type of attack is known to have been carried out in the past, but it has become less common in recent years. The explosive device was placed in a plastic bag next to a local food stand and was remotely detonated.

This incident highlights the need for security systems to be able to identify suspicious objects that may be used as explosive devices and raise alerts. It also illustrates the imminent threat of suicide bombers.
