A good example of how to secure mass gatherings these days can be found in India.
The Delhi Republic Day Parade was held on 26 January, attended by tens of thousands of people. India, which is facing threats posed by various terror groups, had carried out an unprecedented operation to prepare for the event.
According to the reports, as many as 20,000 people took part in the preparations, including security guards, police officers, and members of the security services. In addition, advanced technologies were used to detect and foil attack plots involving drones, and to monitor threats on social media and the internet in general.
The Republic Day Parade went ahead as planned, and ended with no unusual incidents and no casualties.
